Hide the Witches by Miranda Lyn, narrated by Laura Horowitz - mini review 🖤 This is easily one of
Hide the Witches by Miranda Lyn, narrated by Laura Horowitz, is honestly one of the best books I have read so far in 2026.
I already loved the dedication going in, and once the prologue started, I immediately knew I needed to immersive read this with the audio because I was completely absorbed from the start.
Some of my favorite tropes were:
Enemies working together
High stakes
Slow burn
Forced proximity
Hidden identity
Found family
Deadly trials
And all the banter
This is how you write a story. Do I have questions? Yes, absolutely, and that’s exactly what Miranda Lyn intended. But did I ever feel lost at any point? Not at all.
The world-building, the magic system, and the characters were all written so well that if this had been 1000 pages, I honestly would not have minded one bit.
I loved every single thing about this, but my favorite was our FMC Syneca Black. She is fierce, brave, and an absolute badass FMC, and I am already dying for book two because that cliffhanger at the end hurt. I also really enjoyed how the story was woven together, and I have so many theories already about where things are going next.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“I’m talking about choosing you.” His hands tightened on my waist. “Every day. Deliberately. Not because magic forces me to, but because I want to.”
“The only thing that fees right is you”
“But I’ve spent thirty-four years doing what I should. And right now, standing here with you, I don’t fucking care about should.”
🎧 The audio narration by Laura Horowitz was incredible, and honestly, am I surprised? She is a masterclass. I cannot praise her performance enough, her pacing, her tone, her verve, everything. I don’t even know how she does it, but if she narrates it, you need to listen. “Elevated” doesn’t even feel like a strong enough word for her work. Bravo.
